Designing a study with intensive longitudinal assessments
Abstract
To estimate dynamic associations, one needs intensive longitudinal data. A common method to collect intensive longitudinal data is the Experience Sampling Method (ESM). There are many things to consider when designing an ESM study to capture the dynamic associations of interest: how many times a day/week to measure? Over what period? How many questions to ask? Which questions to ask? A random or a fixed design? I will discuss how to handle these issues when designing a study with ESM .
